The work of comber machine in the spinning process:
Table of Contents
Introduction:
Combing operation is the only method in the whole spinning process in spinning mills by which the quality of raw material is increased. Combing machines for medium, medium-fine, and fine yarns usually remove short ash from raw material i.e. cotton ash. The main function of the comb is to remove the short fibers from the cotton fibers and make a sliver suitable for the next process. The use of combing machines in spinning lines results in the following quality changes in combed yarn after spinning.
The roller clearer of drawing frame
(A) Clean and fine yarn
(B) Balanced and strong yarn
(C) Yarn with more gloss and less hairiness
(D) Smooth and strong yarn
(E) External beauty increases.
In addition to the uplift quality, the ring-spinning frame provides fewer twists than the carded yarn when making yarn. As a result, with the increase in yarn, the production in the ring-spinning frame increases and the production cost decreases. Due to the low twist, the yarn becomes softer and it is possible to get additional benefits in the next process i.e. wet process.
The following tasks are performed on the combing:
1. Short fiber removal
2. Removal of existing waste in the fiber
3. Naps removal
4. Increasing the parallel state of the fibers
5. Increasing the balance of the produced fibers
1. The work of comber machine in spinning process-Short fiber removal:
The main function of a combing machine is to remove small/short or short fibers in the form of noils in the combing machine. For making short fiberless sliver or roving in pre-process to produce high-quality yarn.
2. The work of comber machine in spinning process-Removal of existing waste in the fiber:
All waste of cotton fiber is removed in blow-room and carding machine. Yet for some reason any unwanted waste can go into the carding or drawing sliver, which is removed in the combing machine.
3. Naps removal:
Combing operation on the combing machine removes almost complete naps with short fibers and waste. The result is the better quality of yarn produced by a combed sliver.
4. Increasing the parallel state of the fibers:
The ashes of the combed sliver produced by the combing machine are made more parallel than the previous parallel condition, resulting in a better quality of the yarn produced.
5. Increasing the balance of the produced sliver:
The yarn is prepared in the ring-spinning frame by the combing sliver. The yarn is more balanced than the carded sliver and the quality of the yarn is enhanced.
Mechanically the following work is done on the combing machine:
1. Feeding
2. Nipping
3. Combing
4. Piecing
5. Detaching
1. The work of comber machine in spinning process-Feeding:
The mini lap is placed on the lap roller at the feed end of the combing machine and the lap sheet through the lap roller and feeds roller feed plate gently assists the lap feed inside the main machine.
2. The work of comber machine in spinning process-Nipping:
The lap sheet from the feed plate slowly moves to the inside of the machine and the top nipper and bottom nipper or cushion plate hold the lap sheet and the cylinder comb scrapes the lap sheet. The top nipper and bottom nipper hold the lap sheet once and release it again.
3. Combing:
The cylinder comb and top comb solve the main combing task. The cylinder comb scratches the bottom of the lap sheet and the top comb scraps the top of the lap sheet. This combing removes short fiber naps and wastes.
4. Piecing:
Combing the cylinder comb on the lap sheet, the nippers are closed and move forward with a bunch of fibers. The combed fiber separates from the lap sheet. The nipper and top comb continue to scratch the bundle of fibers with its forward motion and the detaching rollers grip the bundle of fibers and pull them forward. Thus the bunch of fibers is separated from the lap sheet and reconnected, this is the process of Piecing.
5. Detaching:
The detaching rollers attach the fiber to both sides of the screw and move the fiber layers forward towards the delivery roller. This work is called detaching because the detaching rollers work to attach the separated fibers.
The types of comber:
It is difficult to classify the combing. All the combing machines that have been made from the beginning to the present below are the names of some of his combing machines.
1. Heilmann Comber
2. Within comber
3. Hart foret comber
4. Century comber
5. Japanese comber
6. Nashmith comber
7. Double comber
The comber is also used depending on the design and use of the machine, which is given below.
1. Rectiliner comber
2. Circular comber
3. Rotary comber
4. Hackling comber
