Role of yarn on fabrics properties:

Yarn is used as a raw material for making cloth. So the quality of the yarn regulates and influences the quality of the fabric. Only by maintaining the quality of yarn can the desired quality of fabric be made. Therefore, it is very important to test the different qualities of the yarn used before making the cloth. Otherwise, even if the weaving process is completed successfully, the desired quality of the fabric will be disturbed due to the exception of the yarn qualities.

Also, if there is a need to produce another fabric similar to a fabric, all the characteristics of the yarn of the woven fabric have to be examined through fabric analysis. At present, in this competitive market, the greater the foresight in analyzing the overall properties of yarn, the greater the demand for the product. Therefore, it can be said that the importance of testing the quality of yarn in both practical and business fields is immense.

Role of yarn on fabrics properties:

The characteristics of the fabric are largely influenced by the different characteristics of the yarn. The raw material for making cloth is yarn, so the different qualities of yarn create different effects on the cloth. Different effects are observed on the fabric especially depending on the amount of twist and the direction of a twist on the yarn. This feature of the fabric created by twist can be seen in some eyes, some can be understood by touching the hand and some can be understood mechanically.

Raw Yarn

The role of yarn on the characteristics of the fabric is discussed below:

1. If the linear density or count of the yarn is correct then the fabric made by it will be of desired quality, otherwise, the quality of the fabric will be disturbed.

2. If there is a Thick place, thin place, Slab, Naps, etc. in the yarn, then the fabric made by the yarn will not be of standard quality, i.e. the surface of the fabric will not be smooth, it will be defective and the defect will be more extensive after dyeing, printing, and finishing.

3. If the yarn is strong, the fabric made from it will also be strong. This fabric will not be a problem in the next process to prevent tension.

4. If there is hairiness in the yarn, the fabric made from that yarn causes various problems. Such as color-taking ability, handling, finishing process, etc. In some cases, thread hairiness may be desired, which can be used to make special types of decorative fabrics.

5. When a fabric is made using Z twist yarn once and S twist yarn another time, it creates a shadow stripe effect on the fabric. This is done to reflect different aspects of light.

6. The precision of the twill line depends on the direction of the twist of the yarn. For example, if the twisted yarn of a twill cloth Z is twisted and the twill lines continue to go down to the left, then the twill line will become blurred by using the S twist yarn towards the fall. Conversely, if the twist is threaded towards the down, the twill lines will be very clear.

7. Fabrics made from hard twisted yarns such as crepe yarn seem more vibrant and acceptable.

8. After wet treatment on fabric made of crepe yarn, if it is dried without any tension, then the crepe yarn is rolled up, and compressed and the crepe effect of the fabric is created.

9. When fabrics are made with high-density yarn, the yarn tends to come into position, creating a snarl effect on the fabric.
