How to make garment pattern-Introduction

The lexical meaning of the word pattern is the design of the fabric or sewing. Patterns are usually actual copies of different parts of a garment. After drawing different parts of a dress on bard paper, the pattern is made by cutting the board paper according to that drawing. The fabric is cut according to the pattern and then the garment is made. Different types of patterns are made in different sizes in the garment-making factory and a marker is made with different patterns for production in large branches. Then many garments are cut at the same time in the garment factory and many garments are prepared by a huge number of workers.

How to make garment pattern-Definition of the pattern

In the garment industry, a pattern is a pattern that is made to a certain size on a piece of flat cardboard, a precise replica of each part of a garment. Individual patterns are created for each part of the garment. All these patterns are used to paint each part of the garment on the cloth or the paper before cutting the cloth. If lining and interlining are used, the pattern has to be created for it as well. There are generally two types of patterns, namely-

1. Sample pattern

2. Production pattern.

Sample Pattern:

The pattern by which a sample is cut is called a sample pattern.

Production Pattern: The pattern by which hundreds of garments are made in the garment industry is called the production pattern.

In the garment industry, the pattern can again be divided into two parts.

1. Block pattern

2. Garment pattern

Block pattern:

Block pattern or basic block refers to the original pattern, which fits a certain ideal body structure, but without any special beauty enhancement structure, design or style. Based on the average size, the block pattern is made for men and women in the groups of youth, adult youth, adult, tall, etc. Again individual block patterns are also created based on the age of the children. The block pattern can be created in the following two ways

(A) Even method

(B) Modeling

Garments pattern:

Garments pattern or working pattern is made based on block pattern or basic block made in flat method or modeling method. Each block pattern is duplicated with a pencil by placing it on board paper. Duplicate this block pattern with sewing allowance, trimming allowance, center front line, center back line, Button attaching position, dart, plate, how loose the dress will be, special design of different or specific parts (if any), etc. are added. U or V-shaped grooves are cut along the sewing line to facilitate proper alignment of the patterns. Individual working patterns or garments patterns are made for each part of a garment. Arrow marks on each pattern must indicate the direction of the grainline or the yarn drawn on the fabric. After the pattern is finished, the working pattern or garments pattern has to be cut from the bard paper with a sharp knife. The size and name of the part should be written on each pattern. Sample garments are made with the help of working patterns.

The purpose of the pattern

The main purpose of creating a pattern is to cut more clothes in a short time and prevent wastage of clothes. So in the textile industry, thousands of clothes are being cut from the pattern of a paper hard bard. This is why the patterns are carefully preserved so that they can be used for many days.

Sewing allowance or inlay is made around the patterns so that the garment is not cut after sewing the fabric according to the pattern.

Some things need to be done to create a dress pattern, which is given below

(i) Initially different parts are drawn on paper according to body size.

(ii) Patterns are made for different sizes.

(iii) Markers are made for higher production.

(iv) Using this pattern is the ideal measurement of the body. Above all, by creating a pattern, a garment factory can reduce the production cost of time, money, and garments by rapidly increasing the number of garments.

The need to create patterns

Patterns are needed to make apparel in garments. And with the help of this pattern, markers can be made at the moment. And with the help of this marker, you can cut as many clothes as you want to make clothes. So there is no substitute for the pattern for any garment industry. Creating patterns is an artistic creative work. By combining the fractions and fashions of the garment with the sewing allowance and other allowances, the perfect pattern of the garment is created by skillfully drawing on bard paper with skillful hands and cutting through geyser technology by Caesar or scissors and multi-cutting. The one who creates the pattern is called the pattern man or the pattern master.

So simply put, the real purpose of creating a pattern is to cut more clothes in less time. So in the textile industry, thousands of clothes are being cut from the pattern of a paper hard bard. That’s why patterns of different sizes are stored so that they can be used for a long time. If you cut the fabric with the help of the pattern, you can be sure about the faults of the garment. After cutting the pattern, the fabric is cut by checking the accuracy of the pattern, so no defects are observed in the clothes.
