Advanced fiber information system AFIS:
Table of Contents
Introduction:
AFIS is a fiber testing device, its full form is the Advanced Fiber Information System. It is a modern instrument in the field of fiber testing. This device works on the Aero-mechanical principle.
AFIS is used everywhere from cotton ginning to yarn preparation. With its help, Naps measurement is recognized worldwide as an ideal method. https://bdfabric.com/steps-to-get-iso-9000-2000-certificate/
Advanced fiber information system AFIS-Various tests of fiber by AFIS:
The following properties of fiber can be tested by this instrument.
1. Fiber length
2. Upper half-length of fiber
3. Short fiber content
4. Immature fiber content
5. Maturity ratio
6. Naps
7. Dust
8. Trash
To determine the efficiency of carding and combing of a spinning mill, it is important to know the amount of sort fiber in the processed raw material. If more naps fiber and roving process is done, the yarn naps produced from it will be completed. And if the fabric is made with this yarn, then the fabric will be completed irregularly or a nappy surface will be added.
As a result, the quality of the fabric will be lower, which will be considered second-class quality fabric. The use of AFIS can analyze the opening, cleaning, carding, combing, and drafting operations, i.e. the entire spinning process. https://bdfabric.com/operations-for-controlling-fusing-in-garments-industries/

Test module:
1. Naps module:
The Naps module measures fiber naps and Seed Coat Naps.
2. Length and maturity module:
This is an optional module. It can be used to determine the fiber content of cotton fiber, the maturity of cotton, and the amount of immature fiber.
3. Trash classification Module:
This is an optional module. It can be used to determine the amount of cotton fiber trash and dust.
This system works according to the recommendations of I. T. M. F.
Advanced fiber information system AFIS-Working Process of AFIS:
The AFIS consists of the following main parts
1. Feeding device
2. Aero-Mechanical Individualizer
3. Optics Scanner
4. Rotor
5. Monitor
Samples (5 gm.) are fed to a mechanical individualizer through a feeding device. They individually separate the mechanical individualizer fibers so that each fiber can be verified. These individual fibers are scanned by a scanner, tested according to the module, stored in a rotor, and displayed on a monitor. With the help of this machine, about 12 to 15 tests can be completed in one hour.
Machine operating procedure:
All parts of the machine, including the printer, need to be switched on and electrified. Then the test is done by selecting the key of the fiber and the type of test. The test is carried out by preparing the sample accordingly and feeding it into the machine.
Report type:
1. The results of each sample test are available.
2. The results can be summarized with the application of statistics.
3. The results can be presented with the help of diagrams.
Results inspection method:
(A) Printed copies of the results separately and visually review the summary.
(B) Cotton can be selected based on the results.
(C) The results help in selecting suitable process parameters for fiber processing.
